Second Impression of first edition, signed by Hillary on half title. London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1955. 8vo. Original blue publisher's cloth in original price-clipped dust jacket. Pages: [ii], coloured frontispiece, 224. Numerous plates and photographic illustrations.

Original price-clipped dust jacket. Bound in original blue publisher's cloth. Lettering and ruling to spine in gilt. SIGNED by author on half title. Comes with numerous pieces of ephemera related to Hilary and his expedition. Multiple newspaper clippings, correspondence, a NZD$5 bill with Hilary on it, etc. Particularly, comes with two letters related to the book's provenance and it's journey through the decades. Both bearing the Hodder & Stoughton letterhead, one is from Paul Hodder-Williams to a Mr. Smart; the other a forwarding telegram from Mr. smart to a Dr. Benson. See attached photos for more information.

Very good in very good dust jacket. Dust jacket price clipped, otherwise in very good condition. Some rubbing and chipping here and there. Multiple tape repairs made to the edges of dust jacket. Cloth hardcover bindings in excellent condition. Binding tight, one corner slightly bumped. Spine gilt remains bright. Contents in excellent condition. Mild foxing here and there. Plates in excellent condition, bright and clear. An overall excellent copy, signed by author, and with a unique provenance.
